Introduction to IC2025
Hailed by the Financial Times as a festival with a "finely hewn sense of craft," Intimacy of Creativity – The Bright Sheng Partnership: Composers Meet Performers in Hong Kong (IC) returns for another innovative season from 2 June to 9 June 2025, presented in partnership with the Momenta Quartet and the Momenta Festival! (The Momenta Festival will present the work of the audience-vote winner among the Composer Fellows in October 2025 in New York.)
Intimacy of Creativity explores the creative process through public, in-depth Open Discussions on the campus of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), which presents the festival. Revised compositions by 3 selected Composer Fellows, between ages 20 and 35, are formally presented at Preview Concert on campus, and World Premiere Concert held at the Tea House of the Xiqu Centre at West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong.
IC Founder and Artistic Director Bright Sheng (HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study Helmut and Anna Pao Sohmen Professor-at-Large) is proud to present Andrew Simon, the principal clarinetist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, as IC's Distinguished Artist for this season. The 2025 season also launches the first partnership between HKUST and the Momenta Quartet, which include:
Emilie-Anne Gendron, violin
Alex Shiozaki, violin
Stephanie Griffin, viola

IC2025 is presented by the HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study, with support from Helmut and Anna Pao Sohmen, as well as from media partners Radio Television Hong Kong and Naxos Music Group.
